Listen

In Christian tradition, listening is a spiritual practice.

Jesus often said, “Let anyone with ears listen.” Matt 13:9

Children today grow up surrounded by constant media voices—music, videos, advertising, and stories shaping their imagination.

Common Good Radio creates space for attentive listening to music, stories, scripture, and one another so that children may grow in wisdom, faith, and discernment.

Core Theology of Listening

The ministry is grounded in a fourfold practice of listening that shapes spiritual discernment in a media-shaped world. When listening to media, practice with your children:

Listening Upward
Listening for the voice of God through scripture, prayer, music, and the wisdom of faith.

Listening Inward
Attending to the inner life—emotion, imagination, conscience, and the movement of the Spirit within us.

Listening Outward
Listening carefully to others, to children, to communities, and to the stories present in culture and media.

Listening Forward
Listening with hope and discernment toward the future, helping children imagine faithful lives in a changing digital world.

These four directions of listening nurture the spiritual discipline that stands at the heart of the ministry.

The Three Pillars:  Sound · Word · Formation

Digital discipleship is not about limiting media.

It is about forming lives of faith within a digitally connected world.

Through this work, we attend to:

  • Sound — the music, messages, and media shaping attention and imagination
  • Word — the stories we believe, and the truth revealed in scripture
  • Formation — the ways children grow in faith, identity, and discernment

Together, these guide families and communities toward faithful engagement with digital culture.
